Monalisa sarkar

I’m Monalisa Sarkar Mitra, born in West Bengal and raised in Jharkhand, India. My artistic influence since my childhood has come from verdant surroundings and serene beauty of nature. In my maximum paintings intimacy of human beings, creatures and nature have been reflected. My style, a unique blend of impressionism, Classicism, and Romanticism, is reminiscent of old masters, alluding to the performance and constancy of life. My works are storytelling tapestries that bring to life the intricate bonds of love and relationships, brimming with hope and positivity. My deep affinity for nature and animals, harking back to my childhood days, is a recurrent theme that lends my art as nostalgic warmth.

My artistic journey has been an impressive array of exhibitions spread over two decades. I started with a local art show in Hirapur, Dhanbad in 2000. My work has since been showcased in numerous esteemed galleries and exhibitions such as Lalit Kala Academy, Delhi; GreenC Gallery, Jaipur; Iconart Gallery, Hyderabad ; Russian House, Kolkata; Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata;Birla Academy of Art, Kolkata, Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai; Jamshedpur Art Camp,Midnapur Art Camp, W.B,Taj Bengal, Kolkata, Taj CCNT, Kolkata ;so on.

With a love for textures, composition and color my works are often recognisable by the soft brush strokes of acrylic colors contrasted against the clear representations of the subject.
Apart from acrylic color, I love to use charcoal too. Beside paintings I also love drawing by pencil, charcoal and pen ink.
