PARTHA BHATTACHARJEE

PARTHA BHATTACHARJEE

Born in 1958 in Chandannagore, a former French colony in India, Partha Bhattacharjee’s life was shaped by humble beginnings. As the youngest of five siblings, Partha grew up in a middle-class family, where his father worked as an Accounts Clerk and his mother was a homemaker with a passion for singing.

Partha’s childhood was marked by simplicity and joy, surrounded by cousins and friends. However, it was during his teenage years that he discovered his true passion for art and painting. Inspired by a school friend’s sketches, Partha began to explore his creative side.

A pivotal moment in his journey came when he met Jyoti Prakash Mallick, a mentor who guided him towards Fine Arts. Partha’s dedication to his craft led him to work with oil paints for over 35 years, during which he developed a deep appreciation for Renaissance art. This influence is evident in his experimentation with Trompe-l’œil, a technique that creates optical illusions through realistic images. Partha’s mastery of this technique is a hallmark of his later series. For Partha, painting is not just a passion, but a lifelong commitment. He desires to continue creating art until his last breath, leaving behind a legacy that inspires future generations.
