Varghese Kalathil is a distinguished contemporary artist whose work resonates with profound themes of nature, spirituality, and human emotion. Born in the serene backwaters of Alappuzha in Kerala, Kalathil’s early fascination with art laid the foundation for his academic and professional journey. He holds a KGTE Diploma and a KGCE Certificate in Painting, followed by a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Painting. His pursuit of excellence in the arts culminated with a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Painting from Karnataka State Open University.

Kalathil’s artistic style blends realism with abstraction, creating visually dynamic works that explore the intricacies of the human psyche and the metaphysical aspects of existence. His palette, often rich and vibrant, complements the emotional and spiritual undertones present in his work. Whether inspired by Kerala’s lush landscapes or the quiet solitude of inner reflection, his art transcends the surface and speaks to universal themes.

In addition to his artistic practice, Varghese Kalathil is a dedicated educator. He currently serves as a Teacher Educator at the Government Institute of Teacher Education (Men) in Kannur, Kerala, where he continues to inspire and mentor aspiring artists.
