In Blessing, artist Nawal Kishore presents a deeply symbolic and emotionally charged composition that bridges the spiritual with the introspective. Rendered in a vibrant, abstract style, the painting draws upon the visual language of Indian mythology and modernist expression to create a resonant meditation on protection, inner struggle, and divine presence.
Centrally placed in the upper portion of the canvas is the revered figure of Hanuman, the monkey god from Hindu mythology, known for his unwavering devotion, courage, and strength. Hanuman is painted in warm, burnt orange and red tones, which glow against a deep reddish-brown used for his clothing and adornments. His limbs are portrayed in a stylized, sculptural manner, suggesting power and grace, while his raised hands—held in a serene, blessing-like gesture, radiate calm and spiritual assurance. The rendering of Hanuman balances traditional iconography with contemporary abstraction, allowing the figure to transcend the literal and inhabit a mythic, universal space.
Beneath Hanuman is a more ambiguous human figure, shown in rich, earthy hues of orange and red. The figure’s posture, arms wrapped tightly around the body, evokes self-embrace or perhaps the embrace of another, unseen presence. The face is fragmented and layered with multiple, overlapping perspectives. This multi-facial rendering offers a visual metaphor for emotional complexity, inner duality, and psychological depth. The figure is at once whole and divided, reflecting vulnerability, protection, and transformation.
The entire composition is grounded in a radiant background of warm orange, which transitions into deeper reds and glowing accents. This fiery palette envelops both figures, uniting them in a shared emotional and spiritual atmosphere. Intricate patterns, particularly in the arms and clothing, add texture and nuance, referencing traditional decorative forms while enhancing the narrative depth of the work. With Blessing, Kishore creates a visual dialogue between the divine and the human. Hanuman’s presence above offers spiritual protection and strength, while the figure below speaks to the deeply personal realm of emotion, identity, and self-compassion. The tension and harmony between the two evoke a powerful sense of healing, invoking themes of surrender, resilience, and grace. Through his masterful use of abstraction, symbolism, and color, Nawal Kishore invites viewers into a space of reflection, where myth and selfhood merge into a singular, transcendent vision.

Why Choose Us
Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.
All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
