Anurag Anand’s Here & Now is a visually arresting and conceptually rich composition that contemplates the layered nature of human existence. Executed in acrylic on canvas, the work is structured across three distinct symbolic realms, each unfolding its own philosophical and emotional resonance. With a deft balance of whimsy and depth, Anand creates a visual journey that bridges grounded reality with boundless aspiration. At the foundation of the composition, a trail of ants winds across the canvas, a powerful metaphor for perseverance, discipline, and the rhythmic labor that underpins life. These small, deliberate forms symbolize the quiet but persistent momentum of human endeavor, echoing the unnoticed toil that forms the bedrock of individual and collective progress. This base layer grounds the viewer in the everyday, the essential, and the physical.

Rising above this is the central section, representing the tangible, practical world we inhabit. This is the “now”, where human figures, structures, and familiar objects may reside, rendered in Anand’s signature stylized idiom. This portion of the work serves as a reflective mirror of the present moment, where responsibilities, interactions, and routines converge. It is here that viewers may locate themselves, within the materiality of the lived experience. The uppermost section bursts with imagination, fantasy, and youthful wonder. Playful elements like a bat and ball, a ship, and a rocket soar across this space, symbolizing dreams, ambition, and the expansive possibilities of the mind. These motifs float against an open field, evoking the sky or the cosmos, suggesting that above the constraints of the real world lies the ever-present realm of desire, memory, and imagination. This layer acts as a canvas for aspirations, where the human spirit dares to dream beyond its current station. Through the harmony of these three layers, labor, life, and longing, Anurag Anand creates a deeply personal and universally resonant meditation on existence. His stylized forms and vibrant palette speak to both folk-art traditions and contemporary storytelling, making the work accessible yet profound. The narrative unfolds organically, inviting viewers to locate themselves within the composition and reflect on their own journey between grounded reality and imaginative transcendence. Here & Now stands as a compelling example of Anand’s ability to fuse symbolic storytelling with visual elegance. It is a layered ode to human persistence, presence, and possibility, rendered with intelligence, warmth, and poetic clarity.

Why Choose Us

Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.

All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.

Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
