Radha and the Mistress of Moon by Suhas Roy is an evocative exploration of ethereal realms where memory, emotion, and identity intertwine. Rendered in a harmonious palette of sepia and ochre, the canvas unfolds like a delicate symphony, inviting viewers into a dreamlike space suffused with introspective melancholy and subtle poetic resonance.
Roy’s masterful layering and use of mixed media generate a nebulous depth from which faintly discernible figures emerge. Central among them is a haunting feminine presence, imbued with quiet strength and vulnerability, whose gaze anchors the composition with soulful intensity. Nearby, a child’s tender form materializes gently, evoking themes of innocence, protection, and the cyclical passage of life. These figures coexist in an intangible, almost spectral tableau, weaving together narratives of relational complexity and spiritual contemplation.
The artist’s nuanced application of oil paint enhances the atmospheric quality, with softly diffused contours and shadowy transitions that blur the boundaries between figure and ground. This ambiguity amplifies the work’s meditative tone, allowing the viewer’s imagination to navigate the interplay between seen and unseen, presence and absence. The subtle melancholia imbued within the palette and composition evokes a timeless reverie—a quiet meditation on longing, memory, and the ephemeral nature of existence.
Radha and the Mistress of Moon situates itself within a rich tradition of symbolic and lyrical figurative art, yet it remains distinctly contemporary through its fusion of texture, form, and emotional subtlety. Roy’s canvas invites a deep, contemplative engagement, drawing us into an intimate dialogue with the complexities of feminine identity and the poetic mysteries of human connection.
Through this haunting vision, Suhas Roy crafts a powerful, transcendent experience—one where the spiritual and the earthly intertwine in a tapestry of delicate beauty, inviting reflection on the enduring bonds that shape our inner lives.

Why Choose Us
Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.
All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
