This composition invites the viewer into a serene Mediterranean-inspired interior, where the gentle interplay of natural light and thoughtful design evokes a tranquil, almost poetic atmosphere. The dominant blue hues create a calming foundation, their coolness balanced by the warm glow of sunlight filtering through, illuminating the space with an inviting radiance. This nuanced treatment of light and color transforms the scene into a sanctuary of quietude and comfort, where architecture and nature seamlessly converge.

The presence of the lemon tree, vibrant and lush, anchors the composition with an organic vitality that contrasts beautifully against the structural elements of the interior. Its sunlit foliage becomes a symbol of life and growth, infusing the space with freshness and a subtle vibrancy. The tree’s placement within the interior blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor realms, emphasizing a harmonious coexistence that speaks to a lifestyle attuned to nature’s rhythms.

Decorative ceramics and carefully arranged furnishings further enrich the environment, introducing texture and cultural nuance. These elements are not mere adornments but integral components of the composition’s narrative, reflecting a sense of history, tradition, and artisanal craftsmanship. Their presence adds layers of meaning, suggesting a lived-in space that is both personal and timeless.

The spatial arrangement within the work demonstrates a refined sensitivity to balance and proportion. The cozy seating area invites contemplation and repose, offering a visual respite that complements the vibrant life of the lemon tree. The artist’s skillful manipulation of perspective guides the viewer’s eye through the scene, encouraging a slow, immersive engagement with the details and atmosphere.

The work can be seen as an exploration of harmony, between nature and architecture, light and shadow, stillness and vitality. It transcends simple representation to evoke a mood of peaceful coexistence and understated elegance. The painterly approach, marked by subtle brushwork and careful modulation of tone, enhances this effect, making the space feel both tangible and dreamlike. This artwork offers a visual meditation on comfort and connection, inviting viewers to experience a moment of serene beauty within a space where the natural and the crafted coexist in perfect balance.

Why Choose Us

Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.

All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.

Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
