Anurag Anand captures the subtle poetry of childhood companionship through a scene of two figures reclining together against a backdrop of quaint village homes and gentle greenery. Rendered in subdued tones and defined by gentle, flowing lines, the composition evokes a sanctuary of stillness, a moment suspended in time where the simplicity of shared presence holds profound emotional weight.
The scene depicts not grand gestures or dramatic events, but rather the essence of childhood distilled into its most honest and relatable form: unhurried afternoons marked by quiet conversations, contemplative silences, and the timeless joy of playing board games. Anand’s delicate treatment of the figures and environment invites viewers to reflect on the beauty found in everyday moments of connection, emphasizing how the bonds between people and place nurture a sense of belonging and emotional security. The use of handmade paper imbues the artwork with organic texture and tactility, enriching the visual experience and enhancing the work’s emotive resonance. The muted color palette, soft earth tones, gentle greens, and subtle shading, further emphasizes the contemplative mood, allowing the viewer to enter a space of calm reflection. Anand’s minimal yet expressive line work carefully balances detail with abstraction, encouraging an intimate reading while leaving space for personal interpretation.
Anand’s focus on quiet companionship aligns with his broader thematic interest in memory, community, and the interplay between interior emotional worlds and external environments. This painting, as part of an editioned series, underscores the artist’s skill in creating layered narratives that are both deeply personal and universally resonant. Work stands out for its lyrical subtlety and emotional depth. It invites viewers to slow down and appreciate the unspoken dimensions of relationships and the sanctuary found in shared spaces. This gentle portrayal of childhood connection resonates with timelessness and cultural specificity, making it a compelling addition to any collection focused on human experience, memory, and place.

Why Choose Us
Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.
All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
