This Painting presents a vibrant and textured portrayal of a village scene, rendered through a rich mosaic-like design that invites close examination. The composition is built upon a layered backdrop of intricate patterns and varied colors, ranging from warm golds and oranges to muted browns and deep greens. These hues and patterns create a compelling sense of depth and visual rhythm, enveloping the scene in a handcrafted, tactile atmosphere.
In the foreground, a cluster of simple yet uniquely detailed buildings forms the heart of the village. Each structure boasts its own distinctive rooftop and window design, underscoring the individuality within the community while maintaining a cohesive visual harmony. The artist’s use of bold, stylized forms lends the buildings a charming folk-art quality, balancing abstraction with recognizable architectural elements.
Scattered throughout the village are several stylized figures, depicted with expressive faces and colorful clothing that enhance the narrative warmth of the work. Some of these figures are shown playing musical instruments, evoking the joyous sounds and communal spirit often found in village life. Their presence adds a dynamic layer of storytelling, emphasizing the social and cultural vibrancy that defines rural communities.
Dark green stylized trees punctuate the composition, providing visual anchors against the richly patterned background. Their prominence contributes to the overall balance and helps frame the village within its natural environment. A small boat situated in the lower left corner adds another narrative element, symbolizing livelihood, travel, or connection to water as a life source. Anand’s mosaic style approach transforms this village scene into a complex tapestry of color, texture, and symbolism. The layered brushwork and rich palette work in tandem to create an immersive, almost tactile experience that celebrates both the individuality of the elements and their integration into a unified whole.
Anand’s ability to fuse traditional folk motifs with contemporary abstraction, producing work that resonates emotionally and visually. It invites viewers to appreciate the beauty of everyday life, community, and the enduring bonds between people and place. This acrylic on canvas piece is a compelling addition to collections exploring cultural heritage, community narratives, and the expressive possibilities of textured, mosaic-inspired art.

Why Choose Us
Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.
All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
