This abstract painting presents a rich interplay of layered shapes and forms, rendered in a vibrant palette of reds, golds, blues, and purples. The composition’s intensity arises from the overlapping and intersecting elements that create a dynamic sense of depth and movement. Through a complex arrangement of geometric and organic shapes, the artwork conjures the impression of a fragmented portrait, inviting viewers to engage in an active process of interpretation. The dense layering and varied tonalities evoke a visual tension that animates the canvas. Horizontal bands of color, appearing as stripes, serve to both unify and disrupt the composition, guiding the eye across the painting while simultaneously introducing rhythmic complexity. These bands interact with more fluid, organic forms, suggesting a balance between structure and spontaneity. The vibrant hues contrast and complement one another, heightening the emotional resonance and lending the piece an almost kinetic energy.
The painting’s non-representational nature resists straightforward categorization, aligning with abstract expressionist and cubist traditions where form and color are prioritized over literal depiction. The fragmented quality hints at a hidden figure or portrait beneath the abstraction, creating an evocative tension between recognition and ambiguity. This layering technique encourages the viewer to navigate multiple visual planes, exploring the relationships between color, form, and space. A subtle signature or notation in the lower right corner anchors the composition with a personal mark, signifying the artist’s presence within the work. This detail offers a point of connection amid the painting’s fluid abstraction, reminding viewers of the human hand behind the complex visual narrative.
Within a broader art historical context, this work engages with themes of identity, perception, and the fragmentation of experience, common motifs in modern and contemporary art. Its dense composition and vibrant palette invite contemplation of the ways in which meaning is constructed and deconstructed through visual language. The painting exemplifies how abstraction can serve as a powerful means of expressing emotional and psychological complexity without reliance on figurative representation. Artwork stands as a compelling exploration of color, form, and the boundaries of abstraction, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in its layered textures and shifting rhythms.

Why Choose Us
Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.
All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
