Artist: Kondapalli Laxma Goud

This exquisite bronze sculpture by Kondapalli Laxma Goud presents a stylized, cylindrical head, showcasing the artist’s mastery in combining traditional motifs with contemporary sculptural sensibilities. The work, edition 3 of 9, reflects Goud’s enduring fascination with mythological and folk-inspired imagery, rendered here in a compact yet richly detailed format. Measuring just under seven inches in height, the piece invites close, intimate viewing, allowing the observer to appreciate the precision and layering in its intricate design.
The head is predominantly finished in a deep crimson red, serving as a striking backdrop for the layered decorative elements. Dark greyish-brown and muted gold tones accentuate the sculpted details, creating a balanced interplay between color, texture, and form. Atop the head sits a textured band, reminiscent of a ceremonial headdress or crown, carefully crafted with raised and inlaid elements. Within this band, small circular accents and gold-toned inlays add visual rhythm and ornamental richness, while a large red circular element, evocative of a jewel or symbolic eye, commands attention at the center. The face of the sculpture is rendered with stylized angularity, emphasizing Goud’s interest in abstracted human forms. Two large circular eyes in pale tones convey a sense of awareness and presence, while a central amber-colored oval element provides a focal point, enhancing the sculptural depth of the visage. Ear-like projections emerge from the upper portion of the head, extending the sense of architectural and ceremonial grandeur. The bands and designs on both the crown and face are executed in relief, producing layered textures that interplay with light and shadow.
The sculpture exudes a powerful presence, fusing the raw, expressive qualities of folk and mythological art with the refinement and precision of contemporary bronze work. The combination of vivid color, intricate relief, and symbolic motifs reflects Goud’s unique ability to translate cultural narratives into sculptural form. This piece exemplifies his commitment to exploring human and divine archetypes, blending imagination, heritage, and technical expertise into a compelling, tactile artwork.

Why Choose Us
Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.
All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
