This Painting presents a lyrical and meditative vision of the natural world, rendered in the artist’s signature fusion of abstraction and landscape. The canvas is dominated by dense forest foliage, its textures brought to life through visible, painterly brushstrokes. At first glance, the scene is recognizably arboreal, yet Singh’s treatment of color and form transcends literal representation. Instead of adhering to naturalistic tones, he infuses the composition with unexpected hues, trees emerge in shades of pinkish coral, orange, and muted green, their surfaces layered with vibrant overlays that suggest both vitality and transience.

The interplay of colors creates a tapestry of energy, evoking the richness of autumn while also pushing the work toward abstraction. Each stroke contributes to a sense of movement, as if the forest itself is alive and shifting. The dense clustering of trees fills the mid-ground and background, producing depth while simultaneously flattening into rhythmic patterns that echo Singh’s longstanding engagement with abstraction. Anchoring the scene is a luminous strip of yellow-green undergrowth across the foreground. This band of color introduces a grounding element, while also heightening the vibrancy of the palette. Above, glimpses of pale blue sky filter through the treetops, offering moments of calm and openness within the otherwise saturated and layered forest. The overall effect is both immersive and contemplative, an invitation for the viewer to enter a space where color and atmosphere merge into a singular poetic experience.

Singh’s technique emphasizes the tactile quality of paint. The brushstrokes, at once deliberate and intuitive, generate texture that mimics the density of foliage while simultaneously asserting the autonomy of the painted surface. This duality, between representation and abstraction, landscape and painting—has been central to Singh’s artistic practice throughout his career. His works resist being mere depictions of nature; rather, they are translations of its essence, distilled into chromatic fields and gestural rhythms.

This canvas exemplifies Paramjit Singh’s mastery in evoking the spirit of place through painterly means. By transforming a forest into a symphony of coral, orange, green, and yellow, Singh invites the viewer to experience nature not through observation alone but through sensation and memory. The work becomes less about the documentation of a scene and more about the meditative experience of color, texture, and atmosphere. It is in this balance, between reality and abstraction, that Singh’s landscapes achieve their enduring resonance.

Why Choose Us

Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.

All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.

Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
