G. R. Santosh’s artwork unfolds as a contemplative visual cosmology, where form, colour, and spiritual inquiry converge into a singular meditative space. Rooted in his deep engagement with Tantric philosophy, the composition resists narrative literalism and instead operates as a symbolic diagram, an inner landscape rather than an external scene. The central vertical axis anchors the work, suggesting ascent, balance, and the alignment of cosmic energies, a recurring concern in Santosh’s mature practice.
Colour plays a decisive role in shaping the painting’s psychological and metaphysical resonance. The dominant field of deep, resonant blue establishes a contemplative ground, evoking infinity, stillness, and the vastness of inner consciousness. This cool expanse is counterbalanced by the luminous presence of red and orange at the upper centre, colours traditionally associated with primal energy, transformation, and spiritual awakening. Their circular, pulsating form radiates intensity, functioning almost as a spiritual nucleus or bindu from which the rest of the composition derives meaning.
Santosh’s handling of geometry is both rigorous and poetic. Curved forms, symmetrical structures, and layered planes coexist in careful equilibrium, creating a visual rhythm that feels at once organic and architectural. The interplay of dark, opaque shapes with translucent, softly blended hues introduces a sense of depth, as though multiple states of being overlap within the same pictorial space. These forms may allude to archetypal bodily or cosmic symbols, yet they remain intentionally ambiguous, inviting introspection rather than definitive interpretation.
The painting’s framed structure further reinforces its meditative intent, functioning almost like a sacred enclosure or yantra, a visual aid for contemplation. Santosh does not seek to depict the divine; instead, he constructs a visual language through which the viewer may encounter it. The work ultimately stands as a testament to his belief that abstraction, when infused with spiritual rigor and chromatic intelligence, can become a profound vehicle for inner exploration and transcendence.

Why Choose Us
Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.
All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.
Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
