This compelling abstract composition captures a quiet drama through its layered bands of color and geometric form. Spanning horizontally across the canvas, the painting presents a meditative interplay between organic textures and precise shapes, inviting viewers to explore depth and spatial relationships without the constraints of representational imagery. The upper two bands command immediate attention. Set against a muted teal-green backdrop, these dark brownish-gray layers evoke the ambiguous forms of clouds or distant mountains. Their subtle tonal variations and textured surfaces suggest natural phenomena, shifting atmospheres or rugged landscapes, but remain intentionally abstract, encouraging the viewer’s imagination to fill in the gaps. The nuanced shading adds a tactile quality, balancing heaviness with atmospheric lightness.
Beneath these ethereal bands lies a broad swath of deep brownish-maroon. This rich, warm section grounds the composition and contrasts with the cooler tones above, anchoring the visual experience. Within this lower field, the artist introduces a sharply defined light orange-red quadrilateral shape, positioned centrally. Its clean edges and recessed appearance create a dynamic tension against the surrounding color field. Outlined delicately in white or a pale hue, this geometric form seems suspended or embedded within the maroon band, conjuring an illusion of spatial layering and depth. The juxtaposition between the organic, cloud-like upper bands and the geometric lower shape highlights the artist’s mastery of balance, between softness and structure, natural suggestion and abstraction. The restrained color palette, with its interplay of earth tones and muted greens, evokes a contemplative mood, inviting prolonged reflection rather than immediate recognition.
This work transcends literal interpretation, offering instead a poetic meditation on space, color, and form. Its flat planes of color are far from static; the subtle textures and careful layering imbue the surface with a sense of movement and life. The composition’s horizontal orientation encourages the eye to travel gently across the canvas, exploring the relationships between shapes and colors as if unfolding a visual narrative without words. Ultimately, the painting exemplifies the power of abstraction to evoke emotion and intellectual engagement simultaneously. It celebrates the inherent beauty of color and form while allowing viewers the freedom to bring personal meaning to the experience. In its quiet yet compelling presence, the work invites us into a world where geometry and nature coexist harmoniously, an invitation to see beyond the surface and appreciate the poetic possibilities of abstraction.

Why Choose Us
Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.
All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
