This large canvas sets concealment against disclosure through two figures at opposite corners of the composition. On the left, a woman parts a wall of white drapery with her own hand, an act of self-revelation rather than exposure imposed upon her. Her face and shoulders are modelled in unsettled greens and ochres, set against dark, loosely brushed hair, so that she emerges from shadow only partially, on her own terms. A fine chain rests at her throat, a quiet but pointed detail amid the otherwise gestural handling.
In the lower right, a second face appears within a dense field of raw red pigment, painted with none of the tonal ambiguity of the first figure. Fully lit and directly frontal, this presence offers an unmediated visibility that contrasts sharply with the veiled woman's guarded emergence. The same chain motif recurs at this figure's neck, linking the two across the canvas and suggesting a shared condition beneath their differing degrees of exposure.
The surrounding field remains intentionally unresolved. Passages of scumbled white, loose pencil notation, and a stray geometric cube interrupt the drapery, denying the composition any single narrative closure and holding the tension between concealment and disclosure permanently unsettled.

Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.
Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
