This emerging as a haunting meditation on solitude and transience, this ethereal landscape by Vinod Sharma exemplifies his unparalleled ability to merge painterly precision with profound emotional nuance. Executed with refined control and a subtle chiaroscuro technique, the work conjures a deeply atmospheric space, where light and shadow interact not merely to model form, but to evoke the delicate textures of memory, absence, and inner reflection.

In this composition, the rugged and tactile foreground, rich in surface modulation and earthy pigmentation, anchors the viewer in physicality. Yet as the gaze drifts toward the horizon, form begins to dissolve. A spectral haze envelops distant contours, creating a dreamlike recession into space. From this softened expanse, a single sliver of cerulean emerges, an exquisite rupture in the otherwise muted palette. This faint glimmer of blue, subtle yet deliberate, operates as an emotional counterpoint, suggesting the ghost of a once-felt serenity or an unreachable promise beyond the veil of time.

Sharma's treatment of space is both poetic and psychological. The compositional restraint, marked by subdued tonal shifts and careful spatial balance, yields a canvas that breathes with quiet melancholy. There is no overt drama or grandeur; instead, the emotional power lies in suggestion, in what is withheld rather than proclaimed. This reserved approach allows for a liminal experience, where the landscape hovers between presence and dissolution, offering the viewer a meditative space shaped as much by inner perception as by outward form.

The surface is rendered with an almost tactile sensitivity. Layers of paint are subtly built and eroded, creating a sense of weathered permanence that mirrors the emotional terrain of the work. The earth itself appears worn and introspective, bearing the weight of time and the imprint of silence. In this way, the painting transcends mere topography, transforming into an elegiac reflection on solitude, loss, and the fragile remnants of beauty. Sharma’s mastery lies in his ability to imbue the landscape genre with philosophical depth. Here, nature becomes a vessel for emotion, a stage on which the ephemeral and the eternal coexist. This work stands as a testament to his poetic vision: a landscape not of grandeur, but of resonance; not of spectacle, but of stillness, where the faintest shift in tone becomes a profound gesture of human experience.

Why Choose Us

Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.

All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.

Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
