With an eloquent fusion of sacred iconography and modernist sensibility, this compelling depiction of Ganesha exemplifies the artist’s masterful ability to reinterpret tradition through a contemporary visual language. Rendered with geometric precision and stylized elegance, the composition reflects a sophisticated engagement with both spiritual narrative and formal abstraction. The deity, portrayed with serene poise, emerges through a series of interlocking shapes and carefully orchestrated lines, offering a vision that is both timeless and refreshingly modern.

The restrained yet resonant palette, dominated by rich ochres and deep crimsons, serves to heighten the visual and emotional impact. Ochre, symbolic of earth and sanctity, harmonizes with the spiritual gravitas of the subject, while crimson introduces a subtle intensity that energizes the composition without disrupting its meditative aura. The artist’s meticulous execution on board further accentuates the clarity of form and the tactile quality of surface, hallmarks of their refined technique. Central to the work is its rhythmic interplay of form and line. Bold, architectural shapes define the figure’s structure, anchoring it within the picture plane, while delicate linear accents trace the contours of the deity, animating the composition with a quiet dynamism. This interplay creates a sense of visual harmony, where stillness and movement coexist, mirroring the dual nature of Ganesha as both remover of obstacles and embodiment of tranquil wisdom.

Beyond its aesthetic resonance, the work engages deeply with cultural symbolism. Ganesha, as a spiritual and philosophical figure, is reimagined here not as a literal representation but as an icon of contemplative strength. By abstracting the form without relinquishing its symbolic essence, the artist invites a more intuitive, introspective engagement with the divine, suggesting that divinity, like art itself, exists beyond mere form. This painting is not merely a depiction but a distillation, a masterful synthesis of visual purity, devotional intent, and modernist clarity. It honors the sacred while breaking from convention, offering a nuanced dialogue between the historical and the contemporary. Through the fusion of tradition and innovation, the work becomes a transcendent object: a quiet, powerful invitation to pause, reflect, and connect with the enduring presence of the divine in modern visual culture.

Why Choose Us

Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.

All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.

Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
