A harmonious synthesis of traditional oriental aesthetics and contemporary artistic technique defines this captivating landscape painting. The artist’s masterful command of both rich oils and delicate watercolors conjures majestic mountains and serene riverscapes with remarkable vitality and poetic resonance. This work invites viewers to embark on a contemplative journey into the tranquil beauty of nature, rendered through a nuanced interplay of media and cultural influences.
The composition is distinguished by its elegant balance between detailed representation and atmospheric subtlety. The imposing mountain ranges rise with a dignified presence, their forms articulated through layered brushwork that conveys both solidity and ethereal lightness. These peaks stand as timeless symbols of endurance and spiritual elevation within oriental art traditions, yet the artist’s modern sensibility reinterprets them with fresh immediacy and texture. Flowing beneath the mountains, the riverscape unfolds with a serene fluidity, rendered through translucent washes of watercolor that contrast beautifully with the tactile density of the oil application. This juxtaposition not only enriches the visual experience but also evokes the harmonious coexistence of permanence and transience, key themes in classical eastern philosophy. The delicate watercolors imbue the scene with a sense of movement and quiet reflection, while the oils lend depth and structure.
Color plays a vital role in the painting’s emotive power. The artist employs a palette that ranges from deep, earthy hues to soft, shimmering tones, creating a dynamic chromatic dialogue. These colors evoke the changing moods of nature, from the tranquil calm of river reflections to the majestic grandeur of mountain peaks bathed in atmospheric light. This vibrant yet restrained palette reflects a sophisticated understanding of how color can articulate both physical landscape and spiritual atmosphere.
The blending of traditional oriental motifs, such as the reverence for natural forms and the symbolic significance of mountains and rivers, with contemporary techniques underscores the artist’s innovative approach. This dialogue between past and present enriches the work’s cultural depth, offering viewers a multifaceted experience that resonates on both aesthetic and philosophical levels. In this painting, nature emerges not merely as a visual subject but as a profound meditation on beauty, harmony, and the sublime. The artist’s synthesis of medium, tradition, and innovation culminates in a timeless vision that continues to captivate and inspire.

Why Choose Us
Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.
All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
