This vibrant oil on canvas painting commands attention with its deep, rich red palette, interwoven with varying shades of orange and muted red-browns that create a warm, immersive atmosphere. The artist’s deliberate use of thick paint application, impasto in key areas, imbues the surface with tactile depth and a compelling physicality, inviting viewers to engage not only visually but sensorially with the work.

The composition is characterized by a dynamic interplay of geometric shapes, notably triangles and linear elements, that intersect and overlap across the canvas in an energetic, rhythmic fashion. These forms serve to structure the composition, guiding the eye through a layered spatial field that balances precision with spontaneity. The geometry evokes both stability and tension, reflecting a controlled exploration of form and abstraction that resonates with modernist traditions while maintaining a contemporary vitality.

Embedded within these larger shapes are smaller motifs, dots and circles in darker reds and browns, that add intricate detail and visual complexity. These punctuated elements function almost like visual accents or musical notes, contributing to the overall cadence of the piece. Their scattered placement contrasts with the rigidity of the geometric forms, introducing a sense of organic variability and movement that enlivens the composition.

The painting’s vibrant palette, dominated by warm hues, conveys a sense of emotional intensity and passion, while the interplay of light and shadow, achieved through varied brushwork and layered pigment, generates a palpable depth. The contrasting textures, smooth passages alongside thick, sculptural paint, create a multisensory experience that engages the viewer’s gaze and touch. Through its abstract vocabulary of color, shape, and texture, this work encapsulates the artist’s nuanced exploration of energy and movement. It invites reflection on the relationship between form and emotion, structure and fluidity, order and chaos. Situated within the lineage of abstract expressionism and geometric abstraction, the painting stands as a contemporary meditation on the expressive possibilities of oil paint, celebrating the medium’s capacity to convey both vigor and subtlety. This piece offers a rich, immersive encounter with abstraction, rewarding close observation and sustained contemplation.

Why Choose Us

Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.

All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.

Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
