Ganesh Haloi’s abstract composition presents a richly layered exploration of color, texture, and form, inviting viewers into a dynamic visual dialogue that resonates with both tension and harmony. Dominated by a vibrant spectrum of greens, the painting balances luminous yellowish-green patches near its upper expanse with deeper, more somber vertical bands of dark green flanking either side. These bands are intricately detailed with horizontal lines, introducing a rhythmic texture that grounds the composition and contrasts with the more fluid central elements.
At the heart of the artwork, a cluster of dark brownish-black shapes emerges with a sense of energetic movement, as if bursting upward from an unseen middle ground. This focal point disrupts the verdant surroundings, creating a compelling interplay between organic vitality and shadowed intensity. The shapes possess an ambiguous quality, simultaneously suggesting natural forms and abstract gestures, reflecting Haloi’s ability to balance abstraction with evocative suggestion.
Scattered predominantly across the upper region are white, stylized letter-like forms. These elements imbue the painting with a lyrical sense of flight and motion, their graphic presence adding another layer of complexity to the visual narrative. They seem to float or soar above the tumultuous central forms, enhancing the sense of vertical dynamism and evoking notions of language, communication, or ephemeral symbols within the abstract field. A distinctive horizontal band of reddish-brown traverses the composition just above its center, acting as a counterpoint that both divides and unites the surrounding colors and shapes. This band adds compositional balance and introduces a warm tonal contrast that enlivens the predominantly green palette.
Executed in gouache on board, Haloi’s work showcases his mastery over medium and surface. The gouache’s opacity and matte finish emphasize the textural interplay and depth of layering, while the board’s rigidity supports the structural precision of the painted elements. The meticulous application of color and line reflects the artist’s nuanced understanding of spatial relationships and rhythm within abstraction. This painting exemplifies Ganesh Haloi’s continued exploration of nature, memory, and abstraction, transforming simple forms into complex emotional landscapes. It invites viewers to immerse themselves in a world where color and form engage in a vibrant dance, evoking both the organic and the symbolic, the seen and the imagined.

Why Choose Us
Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.
All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
