Artist: Sachin Kumar
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 48 × 48 inches
This vibrant and expressive abstract painting by artist Sachin Kumar presents a compelling dual portrait of two women whose faces overlap and blend into one another, forming a striking visual representation of identity, femininity, and inner harmony. The composition is layered with rich textures and pulsating colors that create a sense of both visual rhythm and emotional intensity.
At the heart of the work are the faces of the two women, merging seamlessly, yet individually defined, emphasizing duality, unity, and the multifaceted nature of the self. Their features are stylized, not rendered with photorealistic precision but with a bold artistic language that suggests introspection, cultural resonance, and emotional strength.
Kumar’s palette is dominated by deep greens, yellows, oranges, and blues, each hue shifting across the canvas with a sense of movement and life. These saturated colors are applied with visible brushstrokes and textured layering, reinforcing the physicality of the painting and drawing the viewer’s attention to its materiality as much as its symbolism.
The adornments, large, ornate earrings or necklaces in what appear to be bronze or gold, each centered with a bright turquoise gem, frame the faces and suggest not only cultural heritage but also a kind of regal dignity. Delicate nose rings and the presence of a red bindi mark reinforce the South Asian influence and add layers of identity and tradition to the contemporary rendering. Their garments, though only partially visible, are decorated with repeating geometric patterns in deep blues and teals, adding further rhythm and complexity to the composition. These patterns contrast against the more organic treatment of the faces, bridging the structured and the fluid, the ornamental and the emotional.
The overall impression is one of energy and serenity in coexistence, reflecting both the vibrancy of external presentation and the introspection of internal emotion. Kumar’s stylized, textured treatment elevates the work beyond portraiture, transforming it into an evocative exploration of cultural memory, gender, and the layered experience of being. This painting stands as a testament to Sachin Kumar’s ability to merge traditional influences with contemporary abstraction, crafting work that is visually dynamic and emotionally resonant.

Why Choose Us
Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.
All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
