This stylized and visually evocative painting presents a single, kneeling female figure immersed in or beside flowing water. Executed in a bold yet lyrical folk-inspired aesthetic, the work blends decorative intricacy with symbolic grace, rendering a scene that feels both mythical and intimate.
The woman’s skin shows soft tones of orange and yellow, lending her form a radiant warmth that contrasts gently with the cool hues of the surrounding water. Her dark, flowing hair, accented with teal and green highlights, unfurls in expressive, patterned waves that echo the rippling motion of the teal-blue water beneath her. The hair’s undulating rhythm and stylized texture serve as an extension of the natural elements around her, seamlessly integrating figure and environment. The face of the woman is strikingly stylized, defined by angular lines, strong cheekbones, and bright turquoise eyes and lips, adding a sense of enigmatic intensity to her expression. Her gaze is inward or downward, evoking a moment of contemplation, ritual, or connection with nature.
The artist applies fine, decorative linework and dark symbolic motifs across her body, particularly along her shoulders, torso, limbs, and surrounding water. These embellishments read as both ornamental and spiritual, recalling motifs found in regional textile arts or ceremonial body painting traditions. The figure holds a pale blue flower, delicately positioned in one hand, a quiet yet potent emblem of purity, transformation, or offering. The background is a soft gradient of ochre and warm yellow, with textured brushwork fading into the teal patterns of the water. The interplay between earth tones and aquatic hues creates a dynamic tension between warmth and coolness, further amplifying the symbolic dualities at play: body and spirit, nature and self, stillness and flow.
Rendered with a folk-art sensibility yet rich in modern expressiveness, this painting invites viewers into a moment of serene introspection. It may evoke themes of femininity, nature, ritual, and emotional renewal. Through stylized form and a richly symbolic palette, the artist delivers a composition that is both visually poetic and culturally resonant.

Why Choose Us
Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.
All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
