SAKTI BURMAN
Born in Kolkata in 1935, Sakti Burman embarked on his artistic journey, graduating in painting from the Government College of Arts and Crafts in 1956. He further honed his skills at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he was awarded the prestigious Prix des Etrangers. Burman's artistic prowess has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Silver Medal at the Salon de Montmorency and an award from the town of Lisle-Adam.
Burman's extensive exhibition history spans solo and group shows across India and abroad, including the V International Triennial at Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi, and the Paris Biennale, France. His works have been showcased alongside those of Picasso, Chagall, and Miro in Japan. Notably, he participated in the exhibition "Sigmund Freud's Interpretation of Dreams" at the Historisches Museum, Vienna, in 2000.
Several publications have been dedicated to Burman's work, including the book "Sakti Burman: Dreamers on the Ark" (2001) and a portfolio of monographs by Lalit Kala Academy (2007). Burman continues to live and work in Paris, leaving an indelible
mark on the art world.
