Arvind Sharma’s vibrant acrylic on canvas presents a compelling fusion of abstraction and mythological symbolism, inviting viewers into a richly layered visual narrative. Dominated by a striking palette of deep reds, blues, and earth tones, the composition pulsates with energy and mystique, where anthropomorphic figures embody both human and animal qualities, bridging the realms of the earthly and the spiritual. At the heart of this dynamic tableau, a bluish-teal figure commands attention from a slightly elevated position, its upward-reaching arm culminating in a finger delicately pointing toward a luminous crescent moon rendered in soft yellow-gold. This celestial motif not only anchors the composition but also imbues it with a transcendent quality, suggesting a spiritual connection or aspiration that transcends the corporeal world. The gesture evokes a narrative of guidance, reverence, or invocation, enriching the work with layers of symbolic meaning.

Beneath and partially obscured by this central figure is a stylized feline or lion-like creature, its form a harmonious blend of blue-teal and darker earth hues. The creature’s human-animal hybrid visage furthers the painting’s exploration of liminality, where identities merge and boundaries dissolve. This blending evokes mythic archetypes and ancestral spirits, recalling cultural traditions that honor the coexistence of human consciousness with the natural and supernatural worlds. Sharma’s background choice, a deep, vibrant red intensified by underlying dark gray and black layers, creates a powerful visual tension that amplifies the figures’ presence. The textured application of paint, evidenced by visible brushstrokes and layered surfaces, adds a tactile dimension to the piece, inviting the viewer to engage not only visually but sensorially with the work’s materiality and emotive force.

The stylistic interplay between expressive abstraction and cultural motifs situates this painting within a contemporary discourse that honors heritage while embracing modern artistic language. Sharma’s nuanced use of color, form, and texture crafts a narrative that is at once intimate and universal, rooted in myth yet resonant with present-day quests for meaning and identity. This work stands as a testament to Sharma’s ability to meld symbolism, expressive technique, and cultural reference, creating a profound meditation on spirituality, transformation, and the enduring dialogue between humanity and the cosmos.

Why Choose Us

Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.

All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.

Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
