Gowardhana by Jitendra Dangi is a vibrant and intricately detailed artwork that immerses the viewer in a bustling, celebratory scene deeply rooted in cultural and mythological tradition. At the heart of the composition stands a central figure, likely a deity or significant cultural character, adorned with elaborate clothing and ornate jewelry. The dynamic pose and richly decorated attire immediately command attention, positioning this figure as the focal point within a densely populated narrative tableau.

Surrounding the central figure is a lively assemblage of smaller figures and objects, creating a composition that brims with energy and festivity. This crowded arrangement conveys the essence of a grand procession or communal celebration, inviting viewers to explore the myriad details that enrich the story. The artist’s style draws heavily on folk art traditions, distinguished by its distinctive use of color, pattern, and decorative motifs that lend the scene a timeless cultural authenticity.

A remarkable element of the artwork is the large, canopy-like structure that arches above the central figure. Composed of flowing, organic shapes reminiscent of reeds or lush vegetation, this canopy is supported by tall, slender stalks that frame the composition and enhance the sense of enclosure and sacredness. Above and around the canopy, a surreal landscape of stylized hills and mountains adds a dreamlike dimension, merging natural forms with symbolic significance. The color palette skillfully balances warm, earthy tones, such as ochres, browns, and deep reds with brighter, more vibrant hues, creating a rich layering effect that energizes the entire scene. The ground beneath the figures is densely packed with an array of small, detailed objects, further contributing to the visual complexity and narrative depth.

Gowardhana invites viewers into a richly textured world of cultural celebration, myth, and community. Jitendra Dangi’s masterful blend of folk motifs, detailed storytelling, and vibrant colors culminates in an artwork that is both visually captivating and culturally resonant, offering an immersive experience into a festive and sacred tradition.

Why Choose Us

Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.

All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes.
