Living the Questions invites the viewer into a quiet, contemplative corner, a still life rich with objects that speak of thought, memory, and personal ritual. The work reflects on what it means to dwell in uncertainty rather than rush towards answers, encouraging a moment of pause within its stillness. Rendered in oil on canvas, it shows a confident handling of warm, layered tones and deep chiaroscuro, with light falling selectively across the composition to draw the eye through its many textures.
On a wooden shelf, a stack of books rises unevenly, their worn spines and varied bindings hinting at hours spent in reading and quiet reflection. The books stand as a quiet symbol of the search for meaning itself, each one a marker of questions once opened, sat with, and left to unfold in their own time rather than answered in haste. Beside them rest a small clay pot, a rolled mat, and a bottle, ordinary objects made significant through the artist's careful attention to form and surface. A brass candlestick completes the arrangement, its metallic sheen rendered with subtle precision against the surrounding warmth.
A richly patterned cushion in deep gold and blue tones fills the lower half of the canvas, its intricate motifs painted with meticulous, almost meditative care. The cushion's ornamentation stands in gentle contrast to the muted, textured backdrop, grounding the composition in a sense of comfort and familiarity.

Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.
Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
