In this captivating composition, Shuvaprasanna masterfully intertwines the surreal with the familiar, creating a visual meditation that blurs the lines between reality and symbolism. An ethereal white owl, an emblem of wisdom, mystery, and timeless vigilance, hovers above a labyrinthine cityscape, its dark blue eyes piercing through the warm, textured atmosphere below. The city unfurls in the foreground, a tapestry of buildings rendered in earthy hues, terracotta, ochre, beige, and muted purples, interspersed with subtle hints of green and blue. These structures, with their layered textures and sculptural forms, evoke the weight of history and the complexity of urban life. Shadows and contours suggest depth, while a gently sloping line at the base hints at a hillside or elevated terrain on which the city rests.
In the mid-ground, the architectural rhythm intensifies. Among the clustered structures, one building stands out, a taller edifice crowned with a light golden-yellow dome, drawing the viewer’s eye upward. This deliberate focal point further emphasizes the interplay between earthly existence and spiritual symbolism. The owl dominates the upper half of the painting, its wings fully outstretched in a graceful arc, as if suspended between realms. Its gaze seems omniscient, offering both protection and introspection. The bird’s presence transforms the city below from a mere collection of buildings into a living entity watched over by silent sentinels of history and memory.
The background is painted in a soft, muted mustard-yellow, suffused with warmth and subtle texture. Speckled variations create a sense of depth and atmosphere, as though sunlight filters through layers of time. The overall aesthetic recalls folk art traditions, with simplified shapes and symbolic forms that transcend realism, inviting the viewer to explore the deeper meanings embedded within the scene. Shuvaprasanna’s work here is a haunting exploration of time, knowledge, and existence. The fusion of dreamlike imagery with tangible urban elements creates a narrative rich with emotion and contemplation, encouraging viewers to reflect on the unseen forces that shape both cities and human experience.

Why Choose Us
Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.
All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.
Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
