This vibrant and meticulously detailed artwork presents an arresting tableau of two regal figures seated in an elaborately designed chariot. Evocative of mythological and cultural storytelling, the scene is rendered in a stylized visual language that fuses fantastical imagery with rich, ornamental tradition. The two central figures, likely deities or heroic personae, are adorned with complex, decorative headdresses and garments that shimmer with intricate patterning. Their presence exudes authority and serenity, positioned in graceful symmetry at the heart of the composition. Each element of their attire has been thoughtfully constructed, with a palette of deep greens, radiant reds, golds, and sunlit yellows lending opulence and warmth.

The chariot itself emerges as a masterwork of imaginative design. It is embellished with floral motifs, curvilinear ornamentation, and fantastical detailing that transforms it from a mere vehicle into a symbolic vessel of divine or ceremonial importance. The wheels are especially ornate, visually echoing mandalas or cosmic diagrams, while the reddish-brown tones of the chariot’s frame and undercarriage provide an earthy contrast to the otherwise luminous palette.

Suspended above the chariot is a large, reddish-brown canopy, acting both as a visual focal point and a symbol of protection and reverence. Above and around the figures, a swarm of small, delicately rendered creatures, possibly insects or symbolic spirits, populate the upper reaches of the canvas. Set against a dark olive-green background, this swarm adds a dynamic, atmospheric texture that enhances the sense of movement and mystery. The use of the background color, muted yet deeply expressive, creates a powerful contrast that allows the intricate detailing of the figures and chariot to emerge with striking clarity.

Stylistically, the work reflects influences from Indian miniature painting and folk traditions, while incorporating a contemporary fantastical sensibility. The layering of motifs and the interplay of cultural references suggest a narrative that is both ancient and imaginative, perhaps a mythic journey, a ceremonial procession, or a symbolic passage between worlds. Its elaborate world, drawing them into a celebration of storytelling through symbolism, ornamentation, and vibrant visual harmony. It stands as a testament to the artist’s ability to merge tradition with personal vision in a way that is both celebratory and deeply evocative.

Why Choose Us

Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.

All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.

Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
