This vibrant and intricately detailed artwork centers on a striking female figure adorned with a highly stylized and ornate headdress that evokes the natural imagery of interwoven tree branches. The headdress, blending muted blues, greens, and warm oranges and reds, flows seamlessly into her hair, creating an organic crown that merges nature and artistry in a harmonious visual statement.

The woman’s expressive face draws immediate attention, characterized by large, soulful eyes and a prominent nose, rendered with a thoughtful balance of realism and stylization. Her body and elaborate costume are richly decorated with complex patterns and textures reminiscent of feathers, scales, and other organic forms, lending the figure a mythical, almost otherworldly presence. The deep blues, muted greens, gleaming golds, and warm oranges in the color palette build layers of depth and vibrancy, enhancing the figure’s dynamic and regal aura. The central figure appears engaged with an object held delicately in her hands, though its exact nature remains enigmatic, inviting the viewer to ponder its symbolic significance within the scene. This moment of quiet interaction offers a counterpoint to the richly active surroundings.

Encircling the figure, the background presents a densely packed, dynamic composition filled with additional figures and objects, all woven together through an array of intricate decorative patterns and textures. These surrounding elements suggest a lively cultural or mythical tableau, teeming with narrative possibilities and a palpable sense of community or ritual. Garments and textiles within the scene display elaborate designs that complement and echo the central figure’s attire, reinforcing the artwork’s cohesive visual language.

A stylized lantern or lamp appears in the upper right corner, casting a subtle glow that enhances the sense of intimacy and depth within the composition. The overall image evokes the richness of a vibrant cultural milieu, steeped in tradition and imagination. This piece is a masterful synthesis of figurative storytelling and ornamental detail, inviting viewers into a world where mythology, nature, and human experience intertwine through a vivid and captivating artistic vision.

Why Choose Us

Art has always, naturally, reflected the development and exploration of different thoughts and perceptions, and our current postmodern era is no different. It is interesting to see how art has evolved visually, yet the traditional methods of composing art remain a valid means of expression.

All it takes for an artist to rise above normalcy, is inspiration, which fuels his passion to paint beautiful creations throughout his life.
The valuable expression of art is always there with us, but now this expression is yet to take an interesting diversion with our art gallery, Gallery Silver Scapes, located in Hauz Khas Enclave. Art is no longer considered just decorative but has evolved and come forth as a major form of investment yielding high rates of returns for its buyers, making it an expression commonly used.

Mrs Mayor was walked into the art world by the legendary modernist Bimal Das Gupta, one of whose biggest collections remains with Gallery Silver Scapes. In the 1980s, as head and first curator of the Habiart Gallery founded by Mrs Rekha Modi — a childhood friend — Mrs Mayor worked closely with and curated shows for renowned artists such as A Ramachandran, GR Santosh, Rameshwar Broota, Sakti Burman, MK Bardhan, Dhiraj Chaudhury, M Sivanesan, and Arup Das among others.

Besides modern masters, she also worked with young contemporaries such as Sudip Roy, Paresh Maity, Subroto Kundu, Vinod Sharma, and many more. Artworks commissioned by her are now part of prestigious collections, such as those of the India Habitat Centre, Ranbaxy, Pepsi, Hotel Lalit, Bank of America, and many more private and public collections.
